HOW TO GET TO HOBO'S POND B&B

Welcome to Hobo's Pond Bed and Breakfast.  Your hosts Marlene and Harvey Prescott look forward to meeting you.  Telephone us to book your stay (250) 248-0682 or email us at meprescott@shaw.ca.

Directions to Hobo's Pond B&B:  If you are coming from Victoria or Nanaimo:  Take the Number 51 Exit (Parksville/Coombs).  You are now on the Alberni Hwy 4A travelling West.  Several kilometres along you will pass the Co-op Gas station on your right.  Continue on the Alberni Hwy and just past the Co-op Gas Station you turn left turn onto Errington Road and follow Errington Road (this road ends in the Englishman River Falls Provincial Park) until you come to the Englishman River Road (just before the Park) (about 7 km from the Alberni Highway).  Turn left onto the Englishman River Road and follow it down to 740.  YOU HAVE ARRIVED.  We have a long driveway.  Welcome to Hobo's Pond Bed and Breakfast.

If you are arriving from the North - Campbell River, Courtenay or via air from Comox you exit the highway at Qualicum and follow the directions to Coombs.  A few kilometres past Coombs you will turn right onto the Errington Road and then the above directions apply.

Note:  Errington is approximately 20 minutes inland from Parksville on the east coast of Vancouver Island.

Nestled in the shadow of Mount Arrowsmith, Errington enjoys mild, sunny weather from May to October.

Errington is a very picturesque community.  We recommend that visitors take the time to travel the back roads in this community to get a sense of its rustic charm.

Our 5 acres are located on the beautiful Englishman River located between two Parks (Englishman River Falls Provincial Park & a 400 acre Nature Trust Park).  Both parks have hiking trails and suspension bridges over the river.

From the door of our guest room you can access a trail which makes its way east along the river and links up with a newly created Nature's Trust Park.  A suspension bridge in the Nature Trust park crosses the Englishman River at Top bridge which allows hikers and cyclists to connect to Parksville.

Our lovely Swedish guest enjoys swimming in the pool at the foot of our property.

Five minutes by car and you can be at the Englishman River Provincial Park where visitors can view the falls from a magnificent suspension bridge.  An easy hiking trail loops around the river and ends back up at the parking lot.  There is a picnic centre in the park.

Travelling South on the Island Highway you can visit Gabriola Island; Gambier Island; Thetis Island; - Saltspring Island;  Mayne Island; North and South Pender Islands.

The above-noted islands are all accessible by scheduled ferry travel.

The topography on Vancouver Island is varied. You can expect to see sandy beaches, rushing rivers and creeks, tall evergreen forests, rocky bluffs covered in mosses. One of Vancouver Islands most distinct feature is the Arbutus trees which grow in rocky coastal areas from the southern tip of Vancouver Island to central Vancouver Island.

The smaller outer islands are all very different in character.   The more southerly islands are in a mild marine biotic zone.  In the summer months warm ocean currents create warm water for swimming around most of the islands.  Some of the beaches are rocky and covered with oysters.

Every island is special. Small ferries travel back and forth on scheduled routes to all but the smallest of islands.

From Hobo's Pond you are just a hop, skip and a jump to many of these beautiful places.
